How to Read the Election Summary Report

There are three columns of information (Vote by Mail (VBM), Provisional, and Total) for each elected office, arranged by Political Party in the following order: Democratic (DEM), Republican (REP), Libertarian (LBT), Green (GRN).

Definition of Terms used:

Registered Voters: The number of voters eligible to vote in the City of Tucson 2011 General Election:

  1. You must have resided in the City of Tucson since July 31, and
  2. You must be registered to vote on or before August 1, and
  3. You must be at least 18 years old on August 30.

Cards Cast: Number of ballots counted citywide as of the date and time of this report.

Num. Report Precincts: Total number of precincts reporting citywide. This number will always be 247.

Num. Reporting: Number of precincts that have reported and the percentage of precincts reporting as of the date and time of this report.

VBM: Votes tabulated Vote by Mail results.

PROV: Ballots held back until voting records have been checked for validity (i.e. address changes, etc.) and calculated at a later time.

Number of Precincts: This is the total number of precincts in either the jurisdiction or Ward.

Precincts Reporting: Number of precincts counted as of this report. The percentage column next to the total indicates the percentage of precincts that have reported for that specific ward as of the date and time of this report.

Times Counted: Registered voters in parenthesis is the number of voters registered in either the Jurisdiction, Ward or Precinct . The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters that have actually voted as of the date and time of this report.

Times Blank Voted: Number of votes that were cast where the voter left the race blank.

Times Over Voted: Number of votes cast for more than one candidate in the race.

Candidate: Total votes so far, per specified candidate. The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters casting a vote for this candidate.

Write-In Votes: Total votes cast for a write-in candidate. The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters casting a write-in vote. These are not necessarily valid votes.
