Human Relations Commission (HRC)
Description:
Study discrimination within the community and encourage mutual understanding, respect and cooperation among all groups within the Tucson Metropolitan Community.
8 year term limit.
Maximum Number of Members: 9
Meeting Location:
Mayor & Council Conference Room, 1st Floor, City Hall, 255 W. Alameda
Meeting Time: 2009: 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 5:30 p.m.
Membership Requirements:
Eight members. The Commission shall reflect the racial, ethnic, sex, religion, age and other protected groups and diverse lifestyles of residents of the Tucson Metropolitan Community.
Commission representation shall include persons known to favor principles of equal opportunity and non-discrimination, and who have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the problems concerning human relations and who are committed to the achievement of the goals of the Commission.
The terms of each member shall be coterminous with the term of office of the Mayor or member of the Council who appointed them, or until their successors on the Commission are appointed. Members of the Commission shall be eligible for reappointment but in no event may any individual serve more than a total of eight (8) consecutive years. The member designated by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender Commission shall serve for two years.
