Child Art Materials to Avoid
ID Children's Materials to Avoid
1 Adult art materials, which might contain toxic ingredients
2 Powdered materials which could be inhaled or get in the eyes of children, even if nontoxic; teacher or parent should mix powdered paints
3 Solvents, solvent-containing materials, such as turpentine, paint thinner, shellac, toluene, rubber cement, solvent-based glues & inks, permanent felt-tip markers
4 Art materials requiring solvents for cleanup, such as oil paints, oil-based printmaking inks
5 Art materials that are sprayed, such as spray paints, spray fixatives, spray adhesives, airbrush paints
6 Acids, alkalis, bleaches, or other irritating or corrosive chemicals
7 Art materials containing toxic materials, such as pottery glazes, copper enamels, adult paints, stained glass, pastels
8 Donated or found materials, unless the ingredients are known to be safe
